EBP South is a registered charity, established in 1997. We cover the Solent region, including Portsmouth, Southampton, Havant, Fareham, Gosport, the New Forest and occasionally beyond. We bring careers education, information, advice and guidance, work experience and links with employers together into one coherent service for schools and colleges. Our mission is ‘To Prepare Young People for the World of Work.’
During 2015/16 we reached a total of more than 18,000 young people with our activities, including: 4,423 work experience placements, 2,308 on career inspiration programmes; 5,572 experiencing employability workshops; and 4,862 receiving careers information, advice and guidance. Young people were supported by 74,179 business volunteer hours.
We hold the Matrix Qualification for all of our work. On-going evaluation of our work shows positive impact on young people, for example:
- 99% of students who took part in an interview skills day said they felt better prepared for an interview and were more aware of the attributes employers are looking for.
- 97% of students found their careers interview useful or very useful.
- Over 80% of students on the LEAP mentoring programme showed an increase in confidence and employability skills.
- Students on the ‘activate mentoring’ programme increased their levels of self-motivation and management skills by at least 25%.
