News Careers Conference. Right Here. Right Now! The annual Careers Conference for careers advisers and careers leads took place on Tuesday 26th February 2019. It was the largest career conferences organised by EBP South with 175 people attending. The Careers Conference, Right Here. Right Now! is a CPD event for career professionals and career leads from the education sector including school, colleges and universities. Cath Longhurst, CEO of EBP South and Basingstoke Consortium welcomed the delegates to the Right Here. Right Now! Conference setting the tone that this conference is in the mist of the changing world of careers, from career pathways to new emerging careers. Two key note speakers followed on with talks about what is happening Right Here. Right Now! Geoff Glover, Strategy Development Consultant at Strategic Development Department, Solent University Southampton was the first key note speaker who talked about ‘How the Digital Revolution is Changing Employment’ and the new roles this brings. Clare Tomkins, Student Recruitment Supervising Associate, People and Recruitment, UK and Ireland for Ernst and Young LLP spoke about the ‘Changing Recruitment Practices in Major Corporate Companies’ which was extremely insightful. The delegates were then able to choose a workshop to attend in the morning and one in the afternoon in total there was 12 workshops running throughout the day from businesses and other career professionals. The workshops included: Understanding T Levels, Supporting Budding Entrepreneurs, Personal Branding, Gender Diversity in Aviation and Aerospace as well as many more. During the lunch break delegates were able to visit the Market Place to find out further information about how organisations support young people with their careers. Many organisations recognised the importance of this CPD to support the Education Sector and supported the event these organisations included Southern Universities Network, Portsmouth City Council, Southampton City Council, Hampshire County Council, Solent LEP and The Careers & Enterprise Company.
