A group of students from Bitterne Park School went on an employer visit to Ferrari on Saturday 10th March.

Ferrari opening their dealership doors in Lyndhurst to a selected number of children and their parents/guardians to introduce them to the Ferrari Apprenticeship Programme. They demonstrated  different pieces of equipment used in the after sales Department on client cars which made it an engaging and exciting visit!

Unlike someone coming into the classroom workplace visits provide a context for students to consider, it also gives students the opportunity to engage with Employers which could provide a “foot in the door” to future opportunities such as work experience or job applications.

Nancy, EBP South Careers Practitioner who has arranged the visit said ‘Workplace visits are a great opportunity to open students’ eyes to the opportunities that are available to them. It also provides crucial insight into the world of work that wouldn’t have otherwise been available.’

For Ferrari the benefit is the same for the business as the student, just in reverse – they are able to engage with their potential future talent and educate the next generation about the possibilities available!

Nancy said ‘We [the EBP South Careers Practitioners] work across a number of schools in Hampshire and would like to see more companies offer site visits to inspire their local community.'
