Business Ambassador Expand Business Ambassador - Volunteer Opportunity This is a volunteer role in which you can use your workplace skills to help connect young people (aged 4 – 18) to the world of work. You don’t need any experience. There is no set time commitment required to be a Business Ambassador. You can volunteer at a one-off event or multiple events – it’s up to you. There are Business Ambassador opportunities in Hampshire, Isle of Wight and surrounding areas. You can support in the locations that suit you. Key Requirements If you're an individual, employee or self-employed you can become a Business Ambassador with EBP South. It doesn't matter your job role, job title or the industry your experience is invaluable. Be in work or have work experience that your willing to share Good communication skills Enthusiasm What it involves Helping to up skill young people and give them an insight into your industry. Young people are told they can do ‘any’ career but often they don’t know what careers are available or what skills they need. There are 1000’s of jobs and all of them are important from construction work to solicitors. Having ‘real’ business people come in and talk to young people through interactive activities (provided by ourselves) can help them develop key life skills and raise their aspirations. Cath Longhurst, Chief Executive Cath Longhurst the CEO of EBP South. Expand Cath Longhurst has been the CEO of EBP South since 2002 and has grown EBP from a small team, to an organisation delivering to over 14,000 young people each year. She has a background in youth work and in management and a Master’s Degree in Managing Change and enjoys the combination of working with both education and business. When not at work she loves spending time outdoors and is an enthusiastic dinghy sailor taking part in local and national races whenever possible. Mentor Expand Mentor - Volunteer Opportunity Activate Mentoring is a one year programme of 1-1 mentoring designed to improve students’ motivation, attendance and confidence and to raise aspirations. Mentoring sessions are usually an hour per week in school time but can be tailored to suit the needs of the school.
