An Inspirational event showcasing the world of work

EBP South’s Get Inspired Test Valley was a huge success with both businesses and students praising the event. The event took place at the Army Flying Museum, Middle Wallop, Hampshire on Tuesday 2nd July.

Get Inspired are inspirational careers events organised by EBP South that raise awareness and understanding of the range of careers and work opportunities that exist within the areas it takes place.

The events are held across Hampshire in Southampton, Portsmouth, Basingstoke, New Forest and now Test Valley.

Councillor David Drew, Economic Development and Tourism Portfolio Holder, at Test Valley Borough Council said, ‘We are absolutely delighted with our first ever Get Inspired event because if perfectly reflects our work with local businesses and schools. The students attending here were inspired and we are now talking with partners as we are already taking it forward to be an even bigger event with EBP South in 2020.’

There was a range of exciting activities provided by the businesses which included Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance giving young people the opportunity to learn about how to calculate anesthetic dosages and Scientific Management Limited giving the students limited resources to build a pressurised seal.

Natalie Dixey, Apprenticeship Manager at Simplyhealth, added, ‘These young people are our talent of the future. Get Inspired Test Valley was a fantastic event to help inspire them to explore what job opportunities and career paths are available locally to help them reach their full potential.’

Get Inspired events are funded by sponsorship from businesses recognising the importance of investing in young people, their future work force and often the local community. The sponsors at Get Inspired Test Valley were; Southern Universities Network (SUN), Simplyhealth, Test Valley Borough Council and The Army Flying Bull Museum.

EBP South partners supporting the event included; Andover College, Enterprise M3 The Careers and Enterprise Company and Hampshire Chamber of Commerce.
