EBP South hosts virtual AWE Apprenticeship Evening for parents, guardians and students from across Basingstoke & Deane to learn about apprenticeship opportunities at AWE.

On the 10th February 2022, as part of activities focused on National Apprenticeship Week, EBP South (inc. Basingstoke Consortium) hosted an AWE Apprenticeship Information Event for students, parents and guardians from across Basingstoke & Deane to learn more about the benefits of undertaking an apprenticeship with AWE.AWE Apprentices

The virtual event featured presentations from AWE Head of Recruitment Simon, Head of Skills Academy Marcus, Technical Author C&I Apprentice Ciara and Mechatronic Engineering Apprentice Callum. Attendees heard an overview of the different opportunities available and what it is like to be an apprentice and had the chance to hear first-hand from apprentices about what they do and why they enjoy it.

The event provided students with the opportunity to ask questions directly to apprentices at AWE and gain an insight into the world of work. Simon Perry, Head of Recruitment at AWE said “We are delighted to have been invited by EBP South to take part in this event during National Apprenticeship Week. Applications for the AWE apprentice programme are open until 4 March, and this was a great opportunity to speak with parents, guardians and students about the wide range of apprentice careers we have here at AWE. The audience was also able to experience what an apprenticeship is really like by hearing from some of our current apprentices, and the subsequent questions from the audience made for a really enjoyable and interactive session. Making decisions about future careers can often be quite daunting; we hope this event has given some food for thought about the available options at AWE.”

Rachel Parker, Business Relationship & Training Manager at EBP South said, “We understand the importance of making sure young people are aware of the many career options available to them. This event provided the chance for students to learn more about the possibilities and career options available at AWE and helped them reflect on their future career paths.”
