On the 26th of June EBP South ran their Inspiring STEM event at the National Oceanography Centre for the second year. 24 teams from 17 schools travelled to attend the event which aims to inspire young people about careers in STEM through taking part in exciting 25-minute activities.
The event, which was sponsored by Astute People, AWE, Copello, CooperVision, Balfour Beatty, Roke, South Hampshire College Group and Southampton City Council and supported by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, featured 18 businesses providing engaging STEM activities including a Glovebox Challenge and Robotics, Build a Cruise Ship, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Hackable Safe and L’Artiste and Bridge Destruction Challenge.
Chris Daniels, Senior Manager, Responsible Business from AWE said “It was a pleasure to see so many local employers come together to help young people learn about STEM career paths. AWE is passionate about inspiring the next generation and we are delighted to work with Education Business Partners to play our part through events like Inspiring STEM.”

100 percent of student respondents who attended on the day said that they would recommend this day to other pupils.
