Over 400 students from across Basingstoke and Deane attend EBP South’s Get Inspired Basingstoke, In Partnership with Lenovo.
EBP South’s Get Inspired Basingstoke, in partnership with Lenovo, took place at the Apollo Hotel on the 4th of May 2022. Over 400 pupils from schools across Basingstoke and Deane attended the event which aims to create awareness of and inspire young people about the variety of career options in the area.
Paul Fearon, General Manager at the Apollo Hotel said “We are delighted to be hosting such a vibrant event yet again at the Apollo Hotel. There is wonderful energy throughout the whole venue with enthusiastic students engaging with a wide range of Basingstoke employers. It is vital that students are engaged and aware of the many wonderful careers available to them in our town and borough.”
The event, held in partnership with Lenovo, sponsored by Enterprise M3 and the British Computer Society Berkshire, and supported by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, gave students the opportunity to meet business professionals from a range of industries and learn from their first-hand experiences. The businesses provided a variety of activities to inspire the students and provide an interactive way for them to learn about their industries, including a space coding challenge, edible geoarchaeology, building mini water networks and using VR headsets.
Kayleigh Richardson, Head of Year 10 and Teacher of PE, Science and Dance at Brighton Hill Community School, when asked about the school’s experience at the event, said “What a fantastic day. Our students have left truly inspired. Meeting so many businesses has made today an absolute hit with our students. Thank you EBP South for such an amazing event!”
